Since it is now canonical that we die. A really cool feature would be to have a sort of “death beacon” item we can craft. Then once we die it leaves the beacon floating to make retrieving our items easier.

i like the idea

I actually thought this would already be in the game and I was confused when I couldn’t find where I died. I would love to have a death beacon as well.

I think they should add this as a upgrade you unlock later on
Totally disagree. It’s a survival game with punishment if we die so it would be less challenging if there’s not much to loose. It would 100% take away the fear of dying when we know we just have to swim back to our beacon and recover our stuff. I’m saying this out of experience after 400 hours using this feature as a MOD from Nexus for both SN and BZ.

It will be optional, when you have to craft it.

I would like this idea, mainly due to the almost intended system that your player dies, You could make the range limited so as to not make it to easy, like you need to be within 100 meters to find it so that if you died in the middle of nowhere with no idea how you got there it would still be a challange

and maybe a sort of grave or similar sort of “graphic” leftover depending on what killed the player/human or what caused the death. (like if it was a beast or plant or ship that either shocked you or if a fellow player hit you too hard with a tadpole)

One of the most basic survival game features. Seems odd not to have it.

Death beacon would be nice, either as an item we have to craft or just by default.
The tadpole gets a beacon, so why not my hard earned minerals in my inventory? Maybe something like “around this area” rather than exact beacon. Though I don’t know how it would be visualized in the game.
Reasoning: I have a hard time navigating and remembering any of the locations. No way can I find where I died especially if it’s during an anxious emergency. Something better needs to be available than beeping when within 10 meters of point of death.
~~~ Or not. Might be fund in it’s own right to find someone’s belongings on bottom of the sea, having the time to wonder “to what did this fork die to” and then hearing a monster near you.
The Death Beacon is a good idea. Generally, I would implement it in the same way as the black boxes found throughout the game. If you die, you reprint and, after a short while (depending on how far away you died), the NoA finds the black box and sends a signal to your PDA/HUD. Secondly, if you remember where you died, you can recover the black box faster using a short-distance tracker. This means that if you return before the NoA finds your black box and you are within, let’s say, 50 or 100 meters, your PDA will pick it up automatically. This either reveals the exact spot, or you can do it in AirTag fashion, where it guides you in. I would prefer the exact spot (it’s probably easier to implement). For those who want to search it without help, it should be possible to add a setting to deactivate all of the tracking.
Absolutely agree, why did the dead NPCs dropped black boxes that have signals but ours don’t?
Redundant with https://subnautica2.nolt.io/4559. Merge?
You literally drop your blackbox. There should be a beacon attached to it. All the other blackboxes have beacons from other people that have died before us.
Yes, just as we can find our Tadpole when it has reached 0% and we have been reprinted in our base, there should be a beacon or at least an indicator in the signals, to find our body and be able to recover the resources that are in it.
