The thing that made the original Subnautica so fun to progress through was undoubtedly the amount of unique interactions you had to adapt to when dealing with new fish. Avoiding gas clouds from Gastropods, swimming away from Crashfish before they explode, being wary of the sand beneath you to avoid a sneak attack from Sand Sharks, etc. It made each new section feel fresh as you progressed through them.
Subnautica 2 feels like it is severely lacking in that department for many of it’s creatures so far. Most of the interactions can be summed up as “will bite you” with very few exceptions, especially in the starting zone. For instance, the Foureye, the twin Sitaray, the Bullethead, and the Marrowbreach all essentially just swim around casually until they decide to bite you.
I think it would be beneficial to go in a more unvconventional direction with some of these designs to keep the progression from stagnating before you get to the leviathan class creatures, as once you get to those, you wont really have time to worry about the little guys. Besides, I think it makes it a little easier to ease into the bathwater, when the first parts of the game give you scenarios that are relatively navigable.
