Blue Whale submarine + Biomimetic repel system

W

Hello Unknown Worlds team,
I am a Chinese player. This is my design proposal for Subnautica 2.

This concept rebuilds the cut Blue Shark prototype into a late-game large mobile stronghold submarine named Blue Whale. Due to its enormous hull, it cannot enter narrow terrain such as deep canyons and the Lost River. The Cyclops remains the main vessel for exploring confined deep areas, and the original danger and tension of deep zones are preserved.

In the late game, players already understand how to deal with small predators. However, these creatures repeatedly ambush players during long-distance transport and resource collection in open water. Constant hull damage and repairs become tedious distractions. The tiered biomimicry module is designed to reduce this meaningless harassment, not remove all ocean threats.

The biomimicry system follows the game’s existing food chain rules.

  1. Tier-A biological signal
It consumes continuous power (100 units for reference). This signal only repels small predators: Stalkers, Crabsquids, Ampeels and Warpers. Reaper Leviathans and Ghost Leviathans recognize it as a territorial rival signal and turn more hostile.

  2. Tier-S biological signal (Sea Dragon Leviathan level)
It consumes more power (200 units for reference) and generates heat while working. It repels all small predators, and can temporarily intimidate Reaper and Ghost Leviathans, making them abort attacks and retreat for a short time.

Balance rules:

  1. The biomimicry module drains power continuously. Once turned on, it keeps running until power is exhausted or manually switched off. It creates a temporary safe zone around the submarine for exploring, looting and cargo transfer.
  2. Higher-tier signals accumulate heat over time. When hitting the heat limit, an EMP protection will shut down the module and trigger a mandatory cooldown, to prevent unlimited use.
  3. The repel effect works within a fixed radius. Tier-S signals drain power and build heat far faster. Players must carefully control the activation duration.
  4. This submarine is unlocked late-game. Players need to scan and collect Tier-A and Tier-S Leviathan biological samples inside high-risk areas first.

Blue Whale is not a combat submarine. It focuses on evasion and deterrence, consistent with Cyclops’ design philosophy. It has huge cargo space and onboard workstations to support long open-ocean expeditions and multi-player operations. It relies on biological mimicry rather than weapons to survive among leviathans.
