Short-range radar base structure with uplink

R

A radar interface is missing, which would allow for a better overview of the surroundings.
While signal buoys and base trackers are a good idea, having too many markers unnecessarily clutters the field of view.
Therefore, there should be a mid-game alternative that adds a short-range radar system by allowing all markers to be displayed without always having to keep them in view.

My idea is for the radar to be an external structure that connects to a base module. This system would use the “NoA” as a central distribution hub, relaying radar data to the player via an uplink module.

The radar should only cover a small portion of the map, encouraging the player to build multiple radar stations across the world to gain a complete overview.

Each radar station would need to be built on at least one corridor module and require a power supply.
Furthermore, the radar’s field of view should be obstructed by terrain, forcing the player to choose a strategic, high-visibility location for its construction.
This would force one to venture into unknown places and search them for the necessary resources, which would increase the exploration rate.
Additionally, these stations would serve as small checkpoints where players could replenish their oxygen, helping to reduce deaths caused by oxygen deprivation.

The radar network would look something like this:

  • An uplink module connected to the NoA at the main base, along with a corresponding radar interface for the player.
  • Several radar stations distributed across the map.
  • Each radar station consists of at least one corridor with a hatch, a radar unit, a power source, and an antenna for transmitting data to the NoA.
