So about EA 2.0 experimental version..

This will contain spoilers to a degree.

It was stated in the first devlog that this would be the scariest area ever created in any of the subnautica games.

I can confidently and unfortunately, confirm this is not the case. Only a very small FRACTION meets this criteria.
Avoiding the new “aggressive” collectors is so easy it makes all the changes to the collector behavior trivial. Granted, you must still be wary of its presence but ultimately it is sort of a joke.

The amount of content added doesnt really deserve to be called ea 2.0 in its current scope. Its more of a ea 1.3 update. The area of the map added is quite small with very little exploration possible. Everything is sort of laid bare and brightly illuminated, except for a single spot, which that spot is also the most dangerous.

It was advertised that this entire area was supposed to be dark, tight spaces, and aggressive creatures.
It really didnt deliver all that, in fact you could almost say that it didnt deliver it at all.

Lore content added is nice, but only a handful of new blueprints, lack of this “dark and scary” part of the map as advertised in the devlogs, plus the amount of time it is taking to roll this out, makes the state of the game feel underwhelming. I enjoyed playing it but the whole area is nothing like they said it would be. It looks nearly finished and ready to be released into the base game, but the problem is that its nothing like they’d said it would be.
Not only that, youre left at a cliffhanger that seemingly didnt have to be. Considering how polished the update seems, im confused as to how this was all they managed to add. Everything looks good graphically and except for the weird seafrog chassis hitbox, its relatively bug free.

The crafting recipes for the new blue prints are also very easy. Subnautica’s equivalent blue prints required effort. These do not, especially if your at the “end game” stage at the current state of the game.

The additional story line is lack luster and the changes to NoA made my eyes roll. Yall really trying to make an Ai have feelings like a human? It went from NoA seemingly being an antagonist to now he’s a depressed crybaby. An Ai is an Ai.
Not only have they tried humanizing an Ai, but you cant defend yourself well.

You have the seafrog that can literally punch things, yet it does absolutely nothing to anything. You cam gravitize helpless prey fish and resources, but you cant even let go without having to exit the seafrog or put whatever is gravitized behind a wall and walk away from it. Its either you shoot whatever you have out or you just exit the sea frog and get back in. You can punch a nibbler mango and it doesnt even register. You cant gravitize any of the predator fish to shoot them away, and the only defense you have is to use the feedback resonator to knock them out for a few seconds.
There is the chum cloud or the electric field, but its just basically running away.
Yall let marrowbreaches attack nibbler mangos, thrashing it all around with visible blood, but the nibbler mango just swims away like nothing happened.

The whole notion of a company not issuing weapons, so they dont fight back, i get.
However, there are literal spears and weapons in the game that you dont allow any interaction with.

“Oh look, an alien spear! I can finally push a marrowbreach back!”
Except, you cant even scan or interact sith any of it. Its overwhelmingly counter-intuitive to not have anything to defend or kill something that is actively trying to eat you.
No spear, no knife, just a blunted “safety” axe that can parry an attack with great difficulty.

All in all, the additional content realky only added about less than 12 hours, if even that, of additional storyline and gameplay.

“Biggest content update yet” is really easy to say when all youve done is added voice chat..
