Iso - Character Direction

Maybe I’m the only one– and that would be fine, I could live with that, if I had to – but I was just playing experimental for the first time and went to pick up my favorite voice log from Iso and heard the new voice acting for the first time. I understand the character direction: gruff thrillseeker who lives for adventure, is a great storyteller. However, I really enjoyed how Iso was voiced before because it was more: socially awkward adventure nerd, exploring and discovery are their special interests, will talk for hours about the most uninteresting cave they found which somehow seems to delight them just as much as discovering an ancient artifact of unknown origin.

The flavor of Iso’s character was really fun and fresh because the delivery was very factual and almost dry in the midst of high stakes tension. At one point they even record notes mid-interrogation like– who does that? “Hangon real quick, I gotta journal before you kill me.” I really loved them. I got super invested in Iso because of the direction of the voice acting.

Again, I might be alone in this but I have really strong feelings about Iso and the new voice direction feels like a hard left turn into a more obvious archetypical survivalist. My fully biased opinion is that this is a disservice to the character so far.
