A cool tool for creature progression

R

tool that makes creatures part of progression
I’d combine the Bioacoustic Resonator, Flora Grafting Tool, and Organism Behavior Analyzer into a single progression system.

Imagine encountering a massive alien plant that closes its petals whenever a predator approaches. The plant blocks the entrance to a cave containing a rare resource.

Step 1 — Observe

Scan the plant and watch its response to nearby creatures. You discover that it opens when a particular small fish swims past.

Step 2 — Experiment

Use the resonator to reproduce a signal that attracts the fish. The plant opens, but only while the fish remain nearby.

Step 3 — Adapt

Later, you obtain a sample from the plant and graft a compatible organism near your base. It becomes a renewable source of a useful biological material.

Step 4 — Discover

The cave opens a shortcut into a deeper biome. The creatures inside have their own ecosystem, and your earlier discovery has given you a new way to navigate it.

That’s the kind of mechanic I’d want: one discovery leading to another, with the player learning how the world works rather than simply acquiring a stronger tool.

My main design principle: every new tool should give players a new way to interact with the ocean, not just make an existing task faster. The strongest additions would make fauna, flora, and the environment essential parts of exploration, survival, and progression.
