Hidden Deep-Ocean Ecosystems and Unexplained Mysteries in Subnautica 2
I would love to see the unexplored depths of the Void become a bigger part of Subnautica 2’s world and lore.
Rather than simply adding enormous creatures, I think the game could create a sense that there is an entire ecosystem beyond the areas players can currently explore.
For example:
These discoveries could hint at unknown deep-sea ecosystems and potentially gigantic lifeforms without requiring the developers to create a literal kilometer-long creature.
I think this would greatly enrich the lore, reward exploration, and encourage players to develop their own theories about the planet. The most exciting part would be never knowing whether the strange signals and ancient remains belong to something still alive.
The core idea: Make the player feel that the ocean they have explored is only a tiny fraction of a much larger, mysterious world.
I believe this could fit Subnautica’s atmosphere of discovery, isolation, and the fear of the unknown extremely well.
I love this and I think like how in Subnautica 1, some PDA logs had images and maybe a sonar or laser scan of one of these Ancient Creatures.
And It would be reeally cool to see an abandoned research station with evidence of attacks for these creatures.
And maybe this could connect to the story, with research of these creatures making upgrades or forgotten Axum technology left in these bases in fragments across corrupted PDA logs.
