So like how we had the Bloom shark (I forgot its name) that was infected and caused more hyper aggressive behavior, Other creatures in biomes to come or just an entire biome or area that was sutiable enough to sustaine the bloom over a large area that infected all or most of the fauna and they all evolved off of the Bloom.
Making a subspeices for all ready existing creatures where they have somesort of mutation that improves an aspect of its self or just completly changes its biology.
