Some concerns about the next update - Revised and reposted

D

This is a repost. But it also has been revised with new details. I think this topic is very important for the developers to hear.

I am concerned about the next major content update for Subnautica 2. I am worried that the transition from The Coral Gardens and the third region (Scorpius? I found it on the wiki so that might actually be its name) will keep the big, low detailed drop off down to the new biomes.

Part one: The Transition to Scorpious

Currently, most of the biomes feel too small. And where that is most apparent is in The Jelly Plateaus and the Necrolei Hills. They need to be expanded. What I am hoping Unknown Worlds will do with this transition from The Coral Gardens to Scorpious is to expand these two biomes by relatively slowly declining the terrain down to the new biomes, instead of having drop off after drop off, or worse, one big drop off. When I was exploring Eastward past the border in Creative mode, one of the most unsettling parts was sticking to the floor and going deeper and deeper at a 45 degree angle or so. I think that this decline should do something similar- Instill a slowly growing feeling of dread, making the player wonder whether or not continuing is a good idea- or at least- a good idea yet- before they even see that scary parts, instead of making the player instantly afraid or have a very quickly growing feeling of dread when they instantly see the new, scary biome when they go down a vertical drop off.

Part two: Expanding on older areas

Along with the expansion downward to Scorpious, most of the preexisting biomes, especially the Necrolei Hills, Coral Gardens, Overgrown Ruins and the Jelly plateaus, need to be built upon: But not by expansion. In the same way that the Safe Shallows, Kelp Forests, Grassy Plateaus and even the Mushroom Forests had multiple instances, these biomes should have multiple instances- or multiple places- you can find the same biome. I think this is very important and should definitely be something they do. Having multiple instances of the same biome will make the world feel more realistic. Terrain could be slightly different, and there could be instance-specific anchored and mobile life, to make them feel less like copy/pastes. And for a more personal wishlist, this also gives us and the developers the opportunity to add back the environments from the old Steam screenshots, environments I was so excited to see and was very disappointed when I never did. They dont exist.

Part 3: Didnt fit elsewhere

Unless you guys are going to expand the graveyard downwards, the area north to the North Raceway could have a new transition biome with terrain comparable to the Sparse Reef drop off from the original game. This could balance the steady terrain decline further west with a much better executed drop off, for those that like that.
Because we will be getting new base structures, possibly including circular rooms, stacked rooms and many other new decorations, it might be interesting to revisit Habitat seabase ruin or even the Alien Ruins seabase ruin to stock it with the new objects.
Along with expanding and building upon older areas, The Coral Gardens is very lacking in catchable edible fauna. I think that especially The Graveyard should have a new catchable edible fish that feels like it would be able to survive the 85 degree celsius ambient water temperature and like it- not just another Halfmoon. (Maybe a shrimp looking organism that waves its feathery feeding tentacles over vent fluid like Yeti Crabs?) and one for The Necrolei Hills (likes the highly acidic water?) and The Tufa Towers. Maybe even one new one for The Shallows.

As exciting new biomes and content are, please remember to go back and give some attention to the older areas of the game- and make them feel realistic in terms of life and size, (size especially) for both new and old biomes.

Thank you for your time!
