Hello Unknown Worlds team,
Subnautica 2 is being an incredible experience, and I am very grateful for it. I believe my point of view could be useful to you, since I have followed the original Subnautica since its first Early Access, and I still play it to this day. I also played Subnautica: Below Zero, and got the platinum trophy in both games.
There is something that the games have still not really explored, while many modders have already done it and, in my opinion, are responding to a real demand from the community: truly colossal Leviathans.
The magic of Subnautica is not only thalassophobia. It is also the fear of enormous things, megalophobia. Being in the middle of an ocean and suddenly realizing that something absolutely massive is moving somewhere near you is one of the most unique feelings the game can create.
But I also hope you do not make the same mistake again by keeping the most dangerous Leviathans exclusively in the ecological dead zone. From a gameplay perspective, putting Leviathans in an area whose main purpose is already being dangerous means losing the opportunity to use those creatures as part of the actual exploration and gameplay. What is the reason for the player to go there if the area is basically just a place full of Leviathans? More importantly, as a player, I lose the possibility of unexpectedly encountering one of these creatures in an area where I actually have things to do.
I hope you consider this perspective.
Thank you
