Create a single, versatile tube section that can mediate between base sections that are not on the same grid and allow them to be connected.
The section should be able to turn between 45 and 135 degrees as required to connect to a nearby piece.
It should also be able to incline and decline by around 30 degrees, including WHILE turning left or right.
We would be able to make a spiral “staircase” out of these, albeit with a fairly large XY footprint.
It’s not necessary to support having windows or furniture or other objects inside these connecting pieces; prioritize the extremely high functional value and satisfying contribution they would make to our fantastic SeaBase Artisans.
The idea is to let us build connected bases that span large areas of complex environments without requiring trial and error or guesswork to get the placement and connections right.
This would also provide an accessible alternative to ladders for colonists who cannot use ladders. Currently they would need to swim out airlocks to navigate between floors.
