What if there was a biome which was just stunningly beautiful? Overflowing with awsome plants, creatures, and landscapes, all bioluminescent to make the nights there awsome. Then, even better, everything relies on only self defence, so you can actually enjoy the beauty.
In my opinion, this biome would go well under a cave, so you an always see the bioluminescence, but surface would work aswell.
It’d be funny if almost everything looked kinda hostile, so the fear is there when you first enter.
Also, no Altera base ruins, that would suggest the creatures are hostile. So now the two contradict each other.

I don’t think any biome should be totally safe like that. It’s just not how nature works. There’s always a food web and every living thing in that space is a part of it. A biome that’s safer than some would be fine, but if it’s alive there should always be some degree of danger
Love the idea of a overwellmingly beautiful and peacefull biome hidden after a particularly dangerous, stressful and scary biome to let the tense down a bit. It could make a good contrast.
Taking your word in consideration, @PillowCaseBandit, it could be a kind of attractive place for many living creatures that will then die in that biome. There remains would nourrish biome and plants / local creatures in return.
In the story, it could even be the final resting of couples of members of the Jubilee, attracted by and not willing to leave any more.
See your point @TrickyFlesh, but not everything is about hunting in nature. Espacially not when it comes with plants and alguae.

Every ecosystem with plants has herbivores that eat those plants and then carnivores that eat those herbivores. I’m not saying it needs an apex predator like a leviathan, but there should be creatures like the nibbler there to keep it grounded in the reality of the setting. It’s a wild mostly untouched ecosphere, the food chain always needs to exist in some capacity
