more directions of growth for habitats

Two words: Diagonal Building. In Sub1 and BZ, we had a single option of building on the off-axis: hatches could be placed on the ‘corners’ of round MP rooms. That everything had to snap to a cartesian grid always bugged me because there were could have been so many more base building options with diagonals.

Now, I get in Sub1 with its fixed length I,L,T,X connectors this could lead to a base getting very jumbled out of sync if implemented, but with Sub2 having the incredibly flexible grow/shrink method, I think diagonal construction should be much more feasible without worrying about the √2 issue.

So I suggest
*adding an option to create diagonal ‘cuts’ to square buildings. even if it disallowed doing zig-zags, so the most you could do is make an octogonal shape, that would be a huge improvement.

*Allowing for snap-grid placement of square rooms on the 45-degree angle.

*Allow Connector modules to auto adjust to deal with √2 issues on diagonal connections.

*Added bonus (because I loved the round MP rooms of Sub1, they just looked so ‘real’ for using curves to resist waterpressure) make diagonals ‘soft curves’ akin to the Sub1 MP room. I know this is an added layer of complexity with everything else being boxy to make the grow/shrink work well, so I won’t be that sad if it doesn’t happen. But a fixed build structure that is more like the trad MP room might be nice.
