An apex predator screaming underwater doesn’t really make sense biologically, and it kind of ruins the tension because it immediately gives away exactly where the creature is. If you want the game to be truly horrifying, it would be amazing if you leaned into realistic deep-sea audio physics instead. Instead of loud screams, Leviathans should have ultra low-frequency, deep chested crocodilian rumbles, sub-bass thuds, and infrasound booms. When a massive Leviathan is hunting in a pitch black trench, I want to feel it before I hear it. Just a muffled, heavy rumble that vibrates through your headphones. Because sound travels so fast underwater, your brain can’t easily tell what direction it’s coming from anyway, which would make you feel completely surrounded and helpless. We should also hear things like the sharp crack of bones or jaws snapping from miles away. And feel the heavy weight of the water shifting when something huge passes by. Let the raw, heavy acoustic environment do the work.
Love this
yes

Fr bro i also left a comment saying the collector leviathan should have deepened Crabsquid-like noises

Woah noooo, doesn’t have to be realistic. I love the current sounds the collector makes anyways!

Clicks and rumbles would be chilling. I need it.

bro a deep grumble would send shivers down my spine. yes please!

While I actually enjoy the hollywood roar, it defo needs a bit of work still in terms of when it happens, and should probably be attributed to a mammal of some kind.
That being said it would be awesome to have one of the leviathans be more like this, I kinda feel like the noise they are using is a bit of a placeholder atm along with the music since it’s just distance based rather than reactionary, not as in it won’t be used, but just that it’s being used as a default atm.
