According to the new Waxmoon databank entry, it may be “a schoolmaster and controller node for schools of halfmoons. It takes in information from its schoolmates and trains its larger nervous system to sense hidden cues in the environment, using the entire school as a sensor net.” (This is weird and brilliant, by the way.)
My suggestion is that stunning the Waxmoon with a resonator also stuns the smaller ‘moons nearby, allowing them to be more easily caught.
Also, I wish such a large and striking-looking animal had more behavior than swimming around in a small area and grunting. What if instead they led roving schools of halfmoons across their biomes?
