Trench Fog/Darkness

Salutations! The trench where our lovely Collector Leviathan currently roams is quite intimidating, but I think most intimidating at night. In the day time, especially when one has already traveled through the trench multiple times, it can feel almost too easy and nonthreatening to travel through this region. I think this could be fixed if this region was always enveloped in thick darkness.

My best idea for how to achieve this would be a thick layer of fog that rests on the bottom of the trench, and only allows one to see the subtle blue glow of Cherenkov radiation from below, as well as the rock pillars that protrude from the fog. This would give us an indication that this trench does have a bottom, but only one way of knowing how deep. It would also give the Collector a place to hide itself from view, rather than being visible from a distance and easily avoided when we know it is far enough away.

I know that this trench is actively being reworked, and that there may not even be a Collector there in a few months, but I thought this could serve as inspiration for making this trench a formidable and eerie place that one would want to avoid the bottom of at all costs while crossing over to the Karakorum region for the first time.

The lower part of the trench being murky would make a lot of sense with the liquid tar river that runs through it too. No way that isn’t getting churned up into the surrounding water, realistically speaking

I agree, I would also do something so that if you don’t have wings on your tadpole yet and you are slower, it would just behave normally, swimming and hunting you, but if you were faster than it, it would be more angry and maybe it would speed up and deal more damage and hunt you longer.
