With the inclusion of biomods/Adaptations I feel theres a huge opportunity to add some visual characteristics and they could be small. But they would add a more immersive aspect of the effects and changes the player makes to improve it’s survival on the planet. On the first one we had the Kharrar producing green spots on the players skin but that wasn’t always visible.
Now with multiplayer this would add a new set of customizations that tie directly to the “builds” (biomods selected). It’s true that on single player they wouldn’t add much apart from something posible on the hands or feet. But adding a player view either on the biomods station showing the players current state. This would add a new level of customization and also a greater connection with the world and story. Making the journey not only something we experience but also something we build with a character that gets affected by our actions rather than some slider at the beginning of the game. The journey would change not only your view on the story as you progress but also show you how the world impacts the players. Tying also to the story of how the pioneers change the world to work for them but also make the pioneers more connected to the planet.
In conclusion, biomods right now feel like dull and with little impact on the immersion of the game. With the inclusion of either small or bigger visual effects on the player we would be able to not only feel the effect on gameplay but also integrate it as part of our character.
