I’d love to see actual opening animations for floor lockers and wall lockers with doors. Instead of instantly opening the storage interface, the locker door could physically swing open as the inventory UI appears.
While the PDA inventory interface is open, the locker’s contents could remain visible in the blurred background. Rather than showing an empty interior, the shelves inside the locker could display the stored items as physical objects, slightly out of focus behind the PDA. This would make accessing storage feel much more immersive and give players a visual representation of what’s actually inside each locker, instead of storage existing only within the UI.
I’m not suggesting that every stored item be rendered at full quality, as that could have a noticeable performance impact. Instead, the items could use simplified or lower-detail models and textures since they’re already out of focus behind the PDA. They would only need enough visual detail for players to recognize what’s stored inside, adding immersion without unnecessarily affecting performance.
