Currently, discovered bases are largely static set pieces. I propose allowing players to use the Habitat Builder on these pre-existing structures to integrate them into their own infrastructure.
Restoration Mechanic: Implement a “repair” system where players provide raw materials to restore functionality (power, air, integrity) to derelict rooms.
Recycling & Customization: Once “repaired,” allow the use of the Habitat Builder to add/remove modules or recycle existing components.
Narrative Integrity: Critical story items (Tablets, PDAs, messages, etc.) remain “non-deconstructible” to preserve the narrative experience.
This change would increase player agency, allowing them to inhabit world-building elements and providing a satisfying resource sink for late-game play.

I find odd how some bases are still active, yet you have nothing in there besides one biobed bonus and some scanable.. no option to actually use those..
similarly, the broken half-functional ones.. an option to repair some of not all : the reception, the tadpole pens, the axum outposts all seem repairable.. while the colony and the BFJ seem too brocken to do so.
