One of the reasons why the original Subnautica is still unforgettable is that its predators didn’t just attack the player—they created unforgettable stories.
I still remember mining Kyanite in the Lava Zone when a Warper suddenly teleported me out of my Prawn Suit. Seconds later, a Sea Dragon attacked.
That moment wasn’t scripted. It happened naturally because different creatures and game mechanics interacted with each other.
Those unexpected situations made exploration exciting and memorable.
Instead of simply adding stronger predators, I would love to see more creatures with unique mechanics that change how players explore the world.
For example:
Creatures that interfere with vehicle controls.
Creatures that temporarily disable equipment.
Intelligent hunters that force players to change their strategy.
Predators that interact with other creatures.
Creatures that create unexpected situations players will remember for years.
The Collector is already a great example because it creates unique gameplay situations instead of simply dealing damage.
I don’t want old creatures to return just because of nostalgia. I hope Subnautica 2 introduces brand-new predators that create the same sense of danger, tension, and unforgettable stories.
The most memorable moments in the original game weren’t scripted—they were created naturally by a living world.
I hope Subnautica 2 continues building on that philosophy.
