One of the things that makes Subnautica unique is never knowing exactly what might be waiting in the depths. The new leviathans already have a lot of personality, but I think their behavior could become even more dynamic as Early Access continues.
Instead of simply following predictable routines, leviathans could occasionally vary their behavior depending on the situation. For example, they could patrol different areas, investigate unusual sounds or movement, react differently when defending territory, or sometimes ignore the player if they don’t feel threatened.
Small behavioral changes like these would make encounters feel less predictable and more memorable. Even after many hours of gameplay, players would still feel uncertain because they could never be completely sure how a leviathan might react.
The goal isn’t to make leviathans stronger or more difficult, but to make them feel more like living apex predators with natural, varied behaviors. I think this would improve immersion while keeping exploration exciting throughout the game.
Thank you for all your hard work on Early Access. I’m looking forward to seeing how the creatures continue to evolve during development
