One of the things I’ve noticed in the later portions of the existing EA build is that the late-game waters really don’t feel dangerous due to knowing what creatures spawn when/where. I find myself frequently exploring without a care in the world in what I feel should be dangerous waters just before the end of EA.
I’m aware that there’s more to come with the game and this may be something already being reviewed, but diurnal predators/prey and nocturnal predators/prey would also make the game much more interesting.
I’d love for a predator system somewhat similar to Dying Light where nocturnal predators at first, shouldn’t even be attempted unless absolutely necessary until the later biomods are installed and utilized to assist with deterrence. Subnautica 2 isn’t outright a horror game per se, but randomized creature spawning as well as unique flora at different times of the day and a much more aggressive predator system would help keep the game more interesting in the long-term and develop a better since of strategizing and working with teammates in the earlier game when exploring further out from the immediate shallows.
