There is a minor scientific oversight in Ander’s voice log found in the Coral Biome (the “Crab Tower Report” log addressed to Miss Nahema).Ander states: “…The scanner’s not sure if it’s coral polyp or crab tissue. The optogenetics are so weird.”As a real-world scientific term, optogenetics refers to using light to control genetically modified, light-sensitive cells or neurons. It doesn’t fit the context of two different organisms merging into a single mass.Could this line or text entry be updated to use a more fitting biological term? Changing it to “epigenetics” or a fictional sci-fi term like “symbiogenetics” would make the biology feel incredibly sharp and immersive!

“In cooperation with a PDA, the spectral scanner can image and analyze anything a pioneer encounters.” -The PDA, on Alterra’s standard-issue scanner.
I’d like to interpret optogenetics as the DNA visible to the spectral (referring to spectrum, possibly of light, so we can call it optical) scanner, in which case optogenetics would be the study of genetics using the scanner.
