Pathfinder biomod is disappointing

I have huge problems with orientation and I was excited first when seeing the pathfinder biomod, but soon realized that it is inferior to the pathfinder tool from the previous game in any way.
Problem 1: Duration. Instead of disks that stay where you put them, you now release pheromone bubbles that fade over time. It puts (time) pressure on exploration that is not pleasant as oxygen and nurishment pressure is more than enough

Problem 2: Placement. While you could put down the pathfinder’s tool’s disk at exactly the location you wanted it to stay and therefore build long, helpful guiding paths, the pheromones just get released the position you are at the moment while swimming until the cool down runs off, so if you swim a bit back (like to an oxygen plant or something else) your path looks not neatly anymore and in the worst case might even disorient you further.

Problem 3: Light. The disks of the pathfinder tool were glowing a bit which was nice as you can spot them easily and they illuminate the surroundings as well. The biomed pheromones are by far not as shiny and easy to spot as the disks.

While I appreciate the cool idea of the pathfinding biomod I think the execution is just not good enough, at least not when comparing it with a genuinely better tool, we already had!

So if you can’t find a way to really make the biomod better than the pathfinder’s tool was, maybe just scratch the biomod and bring back the tool. Something just don’t work out how one imagined :(

Improvement(s) for the Pathfinder Tool if it were to return:

  • have the ability to pick up placed disks individually. Not instead of removing the entire path, but as addition, so you can edit your way better (like removing disks from a dead end without having to reset the entire path)
(- maybe let us place more than 20 disks at once in case we get really long and complicated cave systems)

Otherwise the tool is perfect
