Databank is too chaotic

Currently the databank for scanned items/ creatures/ objects is one gigantic list of expandable group headers listed alphabetically. I have had a lot of issues navigating this menu.

  1. Whenever you scan something new, the item’s category field is expanded. This can overwhelm the interface if you don’t open the PDA after each scan and manually collapse each group again.
    It is visually too cluttered.

  2. The headers of the groups are sometimes too specific. For example you won’t find the kraken in the indigenous life tab, because it’s in the molluscs tab. Similar types should be grouped together where one would try to find them.

  3. Ordering the menu alphabetically is not helpful, if you don’t know what exactly you are looking for/ are not well versed in the terminology. A thematic order would help a lot more, you could still order the themes alphabetically.
For Example (Life forms/ Technology/ Environment)

  4. A search bar could help a lot when you need information on something specific. Again - After scanning the kraken, for some reason, the information didn’t open by itself and I had to manually search what exactly I just scanned. This took me longer than I’d like to admit.
