Part of what made the first game so special for me were the quiet moments where I was exploring a new area far from base, or diving down into new depths with my seamoth. staring into the endless open water, or watching the depth meter go steadily up was enough to fill me with feelings of dread, isolation and excitement at the same time.
problem is, having almost everything in the game be either bioluminescent or colored vibrantly takes those feelings away and also gets tiresome pretty quickly. I would love to see emptiness used more for horror in subnautica 2. thanks

not to mention the music immediately tells on any threat

I love the bioluminescent direction they’re going with, but the “scary monster music” was only cool about the first 3 times. Hoping they eventually remove it. I think it’d be scarier if we could only rely on animal sounds for threat indicators.
