Subnautica 2 Community Expansion: The Manta Fleet & The Nursery Trenches Update## 1. Vehicle Suggestion: The “Manta” Mobile Base Submersible

  • Vehicle Overview: A large-class cooperative submersible built to serve as a high-tech mobile base for multi-player deep-sea exploration.
  • Bioluminescent Cloak: An active camouflage hull that mimics local glowing fauna, allowing this large sub to slip past aggressive leviathans entirely undetected.
  • Multiplayer Crew Cabin: Built with a massive interior spacious enough for multiple players to walk around, coordinate dives, and pilot together.
  • Tadpole Transport Bay: Features specialized, integrated containment slots that can securely hold and transport multiple Tadpole creatures across long distances.
  • Onboard Survival Amenities: Fully equipped with a built-in Fabricator for crafting on the go, alongside a Portable Bed so players can rest and manage status effects.
  • Scouting Drone Dock: Comes equipped with a deployable, remote-controlled drone. Players can pilot the drone from inside the safety of the Manta to scout out dangerous caves, locate rare resources, and scan fragments.

2. Base Feature Additions: Aquarium Upgrades

  • Bring Back Aquariums: Reintroduce craftable Aquariums and Alien Containment units as modular interior options for both bases and large submersibles like the Manta.
  • Baby Jetocaris Sanctuary: Allow players to catch and hold baby Jetocaris inside these onboard aquariums. Because adult Jetocaris naturally adopt unattended young in the wild, players can look after them and build a safe sanctuary right inside their mobile base.

3. Biome & Event Suggestion: The Nursery Trenches

  • Biome Overview: A deep, glowing coral labyrinth where adult Jetocaris migrate to lay their eggs. It is surrounded by deep-sea trenches where massive apex predators lurk.
  • The Aurora Storm Event: Every few in-game days, a radioactive storm rolls through the biome. The harsh energy drives adult Jetocaris into a panic, causing them to scatter and leave their babies behind.
  • The Rescue Mission: When a storm hits, players must deploy the Manta and use its Cloak to slip into the trenches safely. Players launch the Manta’s drone into tight coral tunnels to highlight abandoned baby Jetocaris glowing in the dark.
  • Repopulation Rewards: If you successfully rescue the babies, put them in your Manta’s aquariums, and release them into a safe biome later, the grown Jetocaris become passive to you. They will even dig up rare materials from the seafloor and bring them to your base as a “thank you.”
