Hello Unknown Worlds,
I’ve been playing Subnautica 2 on Xbox Series S for roughly 20 hours, and I’d like to share some feedback, opinions, and ideas that I believe could be considered for future updates.
PDA Health Monitor
This feature could add more depth and importance to exploration and survival in Subnautica 2. The PDA Health Monitor would display injuries or status effects sustained from encounters with various creatures and fauna.
For example, being attacked by a Sandspear could cause bleeding, while being pierced by the needle of a Needler Mango could inject venom. Some effects would be temporary and recover naturally, while others would require treatment using a Med Kit or specialized items designed to treat specific injury conditions.
Injury & Condition System
Different creatures, plants, and environmental hazards could inflict unique conditions instead of only dealing direct damage. Examples include:
The PDA could categorize conditions and show what caused them, their effects, and recommended treatment. For example, identifying a creature responsible for poisoning and suggesting the correct cure.
This would make the PDA feel more like a scientific survival tool and make exploration more immersive by encouraging players to understand the ecosystem rather than only reacting to a health bar.
Tadpole Docking Systems
In addition to the standard docking method, multiple systems could better suit different base layouts.
Moonpool Dock
For bases with vertical clearance underneath, including elevated or cliffside bases, allowing vertical docking and undocking.
Tadpole Rail Entry System
For ground-level bases, a rail-guided docking module that must be crafted and attached to the side of a compatible base room with adequate clearance. Using technology similar to the base hatch system, the player can drive the Tadpole directly into the entry module. The rail system then guides the Tadpole into the room, automatically placing it inside the base, where it is secured, rotated to face the exit, and prepared for smooth launch when leaving.
This would allow the vehicle to be fully brought into the base interior while still maintaining a controlled docking and undocking process.
Multiple docking options would support more varied base designs and improve vehicle integration with the environment.
Scanner Station Improvements
I understand this is likely early in development, but I would like to suggest returning to a scanner display style similar to Subnautica 1, showing terrain elevation, surroundings, and precise resource locations to improve navigation and planning.
Future upgrades could also expand scanner functionality, including increased range, higher resolution, faster scans, and more detailed environmental data as progression continues.
This would make scanning more useful and better integrated into exploration and base progression.
Dynamic Weather & Creature Behavior
More dynamic weather could affect exploration, the environment, and creature behavior.
For example, certain creatures like the Electric Geordie could become more dangerous during thunderstorms. Others could change behavior depending on day or night cycles—some becoming more active in daylight, while nocturnal species use camouflage or ambush tactics in darkness.
This would make exploration more unpredictable and encourage adapting strategies based on environmental conditions.
That’s all for now. I understand these are ideas and may not be feasible for Early Access or the final game. Either way, I appreciate the work so far and the opportunity to provide feedback.
Feel free to comment or share feedback on these suggestions.
