Large Hatch / Alterra Energy Doors / Architect Inspired Technology

Alterra Energy Doors

One thing I’ve always wondered is why Alterra hasn’t started using Architect-inspired forcefield doors after the events of Subnautica.

Back on 4546B we saw Architect facilities using energy barriers all over the place. Some acted like doors, some sealed off important areas, and some even kept water separated from interior spaces. They clearly worked extremely well underwater.

Riley returned with tons of scans and data, and Alterra almost certainly sent more expeditions back to the crater afterwards. We already know they managed to reverse-engineer Architect power technology into Ion Batteries and Ion Power Cells, so it doesn’t seem like a stretch that they would learn something from the Architect forcefields too.

Imagine large Alterra facilities using blue energy gates instead of giant metal blast doors. They could be used for vehicle bays, research labs, pressure checkpoints, or just as a way to show how technology has advanced since the first game.

It wouldn’t be pure Architect tech. It would be Alterra’s version of it. Human-made, less efficient, but inspired by what they discovered on 4546B.

I just think it’d be a cool way to show that humanity actually learned something from the Architects instead of only walking away with ion batteries.
