Proxy voicechat with the suit nearby, but the suit’’s signal isnt strong enough to broadcast far away, so add a radio type upgrade with proxy so you may talk over long distance. This would be an added upgrade to the suit. Also have a long battery life maybe, or just be not needing much power to run so no battery needed.

Perhaps also with radio repeaters available as utility constructions that can be docked to a hardpoint and/or (my personal preference is and) as exterior facilities on bases that can extend the range (and chain together)

voice chat isnt necesary in a non server game. why you need prox chat in a game you need to add your friendlist to play? if you have a setup to run subnautica 2, off course you have access to discord, teamspeak, whatsapp…. you realy want devs wasting time building that and making the game “heavier” just to add a useless feature?

I think prox chat would add to the exploration feel of the game. From my experience, it’s so much more enjoyable to play with others, and I think having the added obstacle of needing to stay in contact just adds a level of fun. Sure maybe it’s not entirely useful, but neither is the furniture in the game. Adding to the fun and realism makes the game more immersive.
proximity voice would also add some of the horror that people are missing, especially if the radio goes fuzzy when the signal gets weak, and they add effects when you take damage or are drowning etc.
