Water and Food bar are a constant aspect of the game but i wonder if for convienience the usual drain could be reduced when inside a base to make the regular chores a bit less repetetive. Maybe this shouldn’t be an advantage you get immediately but something you achieve via certain base modules.
I read the description of the vents decoration item and wasn’t immediately so sure it is just decoration. but it would make sense that humidity control in the habitat would reduce water consumption of inhabitants (less sweating). Why not make it into a nice convienience feature - the little things that give some micro advantages and on top of a little decoration. Something similar could be thought of as well for food.
Another convienience item would a table - it would have only 1 “storage slot”. but that item would appear on the table and could be interacted with directy. for a food item the player would eat it. feature 1: only as much as to fill the bar to 100. feature 2: it would automatically refill by pulling another item of the same type from all lockers in your base. Hmm, would even make sense for titanium. It would be cooler if it would also display how much of that item is available in your base.
On the other hand, these things shouldn’t be in no way a neccessity. The bonus should be limited such that players that are not interested in such things can easily skip it (they won’t spend that much time in base anyway).
As a side note, that the more we are encouraged to build stuff, the more we will also be exploring the biomes around us to get the materials to build it - i.e. the game offers more stuff to do and is fun to play for longer.
EDIT: A automated food process and more food recipes would also nicely comound this: https://subnautica2.nolt.io/7265
Or maybe a well fed bonus for eating conplex food

In a similar sggestion, someone mentioned that sitting in a chair already pauses the food/water counters entirely. I haven’t checked it yet.
can confirm that sitting in a chair does pause hunger & thirst
